Franco Joly.com
The very first work of Franco Joly - around 1986- are influenced by the Art Deco style ( see the "Rainbow Clock"). Soon after, he finds his own style which can been described as being a "baroque style" ( see "Joker" chair 1996). From this years, he follows a track which, at the time, has been simultaneously followed in France or in Italy by some designers such as André Dubreuil, Elisabeth Garouste, Pucci di Rossi ...etc. Since 2000, his works tend to be more sober, less exuberant, but still full of imagination and fantasy.
Often, we recognize the works of Franco Joly by the use of anthropomorphic elements always, by their bright colours and their cheerfulness. Sometimes irreverent, ironical (especially in the design of ceramics) , sometimes poetical and dreamlike.
Most of his own creations ( furniture) are edited in very small series and even unique, sometimes.
